Mark Frazier

Associate Director of Worship Arts

Mark Frazier joined the staff at CUMC in February 2017.  He has served as Director of Music Ministry in churches in North Carolina, Iowa, Ohio, Virginia, New Hampshire, and Maryland. As a composer Mr. Frazier won the Youth Division of the American Guild of English Handbell Ringers Area II composition contest, and the national Anthem Composition Contest sponsored by the Fairfax Methodist Church in Fairfax, VA. In 1999, his anthem "The Great Commission" was written for the dedication of the new Sanctuary of Brownson Memorial Presbyterian Church of Southern Pines, North Carolina. While a resident in North Carolina, Mr. Frazier was an adjunct Faculty member of the University of North Carolina at Pembroke where he taught Music Appreciation. Having grown up in the home of a church musician, he sees music as being an essential part of the fabric of life. With a musical background which includes diverse experiences including Music Theater, Broadway, Choral and Organ Literature, Mark attempts to bring all of these different experiences to bear in the life of the church. He believes that a music program should encourage everyone to participate, regardless of musical background, and to allow music to speak from the heart so that our whole being may be involved in responding to the God of love and life. He encourages everyone to take part in this essential human expression of faith.
