GIVE

Clarendon United Methodist Church (CUMC) relies on the tithes and offerings of our generous givers to support our programs, missions, staff, and the church building. We also support the District and Conference missions. There are many ways to make a contribution. Please click the button below or simply scroll down for detailed giving instructions for that method.

How to Give:

Planned and Estate Giving

Clarendon United Methodist Church (CUMC) welcomes all forms of Christian giving to show the love of our church, the work we do in the community and the world, and to give back to God. In particular, planned and estate giving has been a central part of our financial security, and thanks to large gifts of the past to the church from our members, we have substantial endowment funds. This funding is used for a range of purposes, including operational expenses, the building, and sponsoring of Methodist clergy.

These accounts are held by Wespath, the investment manager of all UMC pension funds. What is very exciting is that now all of our funds will be fully aligned with our principles. We are investing in Wespath's social values equity funds and fixed income funds, which exclude assets that involve alcohol, tobacco, weapons, gambling, fossil fuels, and others. These funds also intentionally push sustainability policies in investee companies, and as a Board, we felt it was essential that we align our assets with our values. We are running a balanced portfolio to manage risks and maximize returns for the good works of CUMC.

We would welcome your investment in CUMC via estate giving, planned giving, or the giving of securities or other financial assets. We can accept all forms of assets, from distributions from retirement accounts (IRAs, etc.), stocks, mutual funds, and real estate. We will make the process as simple as possible and we will honor your gift in all ways.

TO GIVE:

If you’re interested in planned or estate giving to CUMC, please reach out to our Treasurer, Fran Underwood, at cbam@clarendonumc.org.

Click the green Donate Now button at the top of this page to be taken to the church center giving screen (https://clarendon.churchcenter.com/giving).

Type in the amount you want to give, and select the frequency of your donation (i.e., One time or Regularly). If you are selecting a regular donation, please fill in the additional boxes.

Enter your Email Address and Name and click Continue to be taken to the Payment Method screen. (Note: if you have already set up a payment method via text-to-give or the Church Center App, you can simply select your payment method from those listed.)

Select your Payment Method (apple pay, bank account, or debit/credit card). Enter details for your payment. We strongly encourage our online givers to use payment through their bank account. The payment processing fee associated with that type of payment method is much less. Please note: if you select bank account, you will need to go through several steps to verify your account through Plaid, including answering some of the security questions you have set up with your bank.

After you have verified your bank account, please consider selecting the checkbox option to cover the processing fee, if you are able to do so.

Click on the Start Giving/Give Now button.

  2. Via the offering plate at any service (cash or check). If you would like us to record your gift, please use a yellow pew envelope with your name on it.
  3. By mailing your contribution to the church office (606 N. Irving St., Arlington, VA 22201).

Clarendon UMC has a generous heart...with money, time, talents, and prayers. We believe that when we give out of our great love of Christ, we experience joy and contentment that only comes with being obedient to His call. We know that by giving out of His love that first loved us, we can change lives and honor God and as his Disciples and by working along side Christ, our gifts will invest in His vision and purpose for the world to transform lives. It is an act of Worship and a choice we make.
